It continues! After 2 weeks of vacation at home and visiting family, attending weddings and birthdays, we are on the road again.
On August 15, 2022, we will start early in the morning at Stuttgart Airport to Barcelona. In the middle of summer vacation, not exactly stress-free... Despite arriving early, we just make it to the boarding gate. Upon arrival in Barcelona, we haul our luggage up and down stairs through the metro for the next 4 months until we reach the hotel, where we can finally get rid of our suitcases. Today is also a holiday in Spain, so hardly anything is open and there are only a few people on the streets. We find a cozy hammock café (Hammock Juice Station) just around the corner and treat ourselves to a delicious breakfast there. After a power nap, we go to the famous Sagrada Familia in the afternoon. We have been to Barcelona several times, but we have never managed to go inside Gaudí's church. However, the admission, which includes an audio guide, is worth it! The well-thought-out architecture, the special play with light, the small details; it is truly incredibly impressive and incomparable to any "normal" church.
In the evening, we go to Carrer de Blai to enjoy delicious pinchos, of which we can't get enough. In the narrow streets, you can also watch people wonderfully. After a short walk along the Ramblas, we finally return to the hotel and fall tired into bed after this hot day.
After a good night's sleep, we have breakfast again in the café we liked so much yesterday and go to the airport with plenty of time, from where we are supposed to continue to Colombia. Unfortunately, we mix up the trains and do not get on the R2N but on the R2, which departs at almost the same time from the same platform but bypasses the airport. So instead of arriving 3 hours early, we only arrive 2 hours before departure. We still have to take the bus to the right terminal, which takes another 15 minutes. Luckily, there is no queue at the counter, but we are informed that we cannot board the flight without proof of departure from Colombia. No one-way flight to South America. And this 20 minutes before the baggage drop-off closes... So we quickly book any flight to any time from Bogota to Lima and just in time, we can get rid of our luggage. We pass through the security checks fairly quickly and run to passport control - where Tina initially does not pass the scanner because her passport is too new. So we queue again and the clock is ticking... As one of the last, we arrive at the gate where boarding has long begun. Finally, on our airplane seats, we can breathe a sigh of relief and leave European soil. See you in Colombia!
