Day 2 in Prachuap Khiri Khan

פֿאַרעפֿנטלעכט: 09.11.2018

Today is Friday and we want to explore the other two bays. There are a total of 3 (Ao Noi, Ao Prachuap, and Ao Manao). So we set off on foot again. Our host always looks at us with big eyes when we march off. The Thais simply ride the shortest distances on scooters. Not dumb in the heat.

First, our path leads us to the monkey mountain, which we climbed in the dark 2 days ago. 396 steps that promise a tight booty. Who is so dumb and goes up a mountain at 12 noon in the blazing sun and cloudless sky? The two Germans of course. Surprisingly, we are the only ones. Only us and 150 macaques. Thanks to the midday heat, most of them lie in the shade and have no interest in our backpack, phone, sunglasses, hair, etc. We have been warned many times and told about dangerous monkey attacks. I only see sleeping adult monkeys and playing or hanging on their mothers baby monkeys. So cute

Then we continue along the bay to a small fishing village at the end of the bay. Countless colorful small boats are floating in the water, fishermen and their families pick crabs out of nets or sort them. There are jellyfish swimming in water tanks. What do they do with all the jellyfish? A few meters further, a strange smell reaches our noses. There are tanks, barrels, and boxes with raw fish in brine. We take a break at a small beach bar. A cold drink, shade, wind, and you feel almost like new.

We can continue to Ao Noi. An actually beautiful bay without any hotels or tourism at all.

That is probably the reason for all the trash. That is the enormous disadvantage of such countries. People lack awareness of how to handle garbage and live an environmentally friendly life. Used oil is poured into the sewer, the water bottle is put in a plastic bag together with two straws. When buying skewers at the market, each skewer gets its own plastic bag. And all this trash ends up in the nearest bush, on the beach, or in the sea. No wonder, after all, we hardly ever find trash cans. We carry our trash around in our backpacks all day to dispose of it in the accommodation in the evening. So, now the little detour on the topic of trash is over.

After visiting the beach and wandering through the forest for a bit until the mosquitoes drove us out again, we are pretty exhausted and not very motivated to walk the 7km back. So we approach a man in a pickup truck and ask him if he can take us back to the city. Unfortunately, he doesn't speak English at all, but the name of the city is enough and we get a free ride back to Prachuap. Chacka :) That's enough walking now.... It must have been about 20 km today, which doesn't sound like much, but it's quite exhausting in the warm weather.

In the evening at the food market, we indulge ourselves! Since it's Saturday, it is significantly larger than usual. Omelette on rice, fish cake on bamboo skewer or grilled in banana leaves, quail eggs on a stick, crepes, coconut. A little bit of everything. <3 And to finish off, we get a massage with a sea view on the promenade. The ladies have really strong hands :-O Luckily, I got the petite lady. Max is being worked on by the strong lady with elbow action.
