פֿאַרעפֿנטלעכט: 25.12.2019
First Christmas day, 25.12. Traditionally, this is the day when Christmas is celebrated. So, we had to take it easy as almost everything is closed. - No problem, let's play golf instead.
The breakfast here at our B&B is really something. Today, they had small gifts (golf balls) and party poppers. They even have a breakfast menu where you can choose a hot breakfast, like poached eggs on toast with avocado or omelette with feta and spinach. And in the evening, there is always a bag of homemade chocolates on the made bed. That's luxury!
We had already paid for the greenfee for golfing the day before yesterday, so after breakfast we went for a round at the Wanaka Golf Club. There were beautiful views of the mountains and Lake Wanaka. By the way, the weather was much better than it looks in most photos, and we had some good shots. However, at the beginning, a certain person (hint: purple crown) didn't play so well, so there was a lot of silence - of course, for concentration purposes. We finished after 3:23, mainly because we were being chased from behind by a yellow ball that constantly played at our heels. What a jerk. Another thing we noticed is that men in New Zealand are allowed to wear sleeveless tops while golfing. - Simply chic.
We then had a workout session and went to the Italian restaurant for Christmas dinner. The last time we could arrive was 15:00, so we had an early meal. They had party poppers with paper crowns again. It's a common thing here. Ate, took a walk by the lake, now watching a Netflix movie ("The Two Popes" - somehow fitting for Christmas), and the day is done.
Tomorrow, we'll continue to the East Coast to the Franz Josef Glacier, which other people also call differently, but that person can write about it tomorrow.
