Green landscape, white landscape, red heads

פֿאַרעפֿנטלעכט: 27.05.2019

This morning it was very difficult for us to get up. It wasn't because we didn't sleep enough, but because the bed in our B&B was incredibly cozy.

The breakfast was amazing too!! It included porridge with raspberries and white chocolate, and a croissant filled with salmon, scrambled eggs, and hollandaise sauce. This accommodation is truly like a 5-star hotel - for those who want to google it, it's called 'Firhall B&B'.

After we managed to tear ourselves away from the breakfast table, we started our hike in Cairngorms National Park.

There, we hiked to the second highest mountain in Scotland (Ben Macdui), which still had snow on its summit. The small streams flowing down through the peat bog and the view of the valley were breathtakingly beautiful!

Back in the valley, we dedicated ourselves to our favorite activity - whiskey. The Speyside (the area around the River Spey) offered the best starting point. When we say that you can find a distillery on every corner, we mean that literally!

The so-called Malt Whisky Trail offers over 50 active distilleries in an area roughly the size of a large German district.

Of course, we couldn't visit or try them all, but we did manage to visit a few. It is worth mentioning the Macallen Distillery, which was completely rebuilt for over £150 million.

On our entire trip so far, we haven't seen a distillery that is comparable in size and modernity. It's best to turn to Google to see it for yourself.

Tomorrow on our road trip, we have quite a lot of 'road' ahead of us. We are heading southwest to Glencoe, Fort William, and Nessie. We will tell you about our experiences tomorrow at our penultimate stop - Inverness.

We are ending the evening with beer, cider, and a Speyside whiskey.

See you soon,

MAXI & VERENA
