Calendar:
definitely too long
Noteworthy:
So today the inevitable has happened: As a so-called senior, I now have the right to apply for the senior card at a Swiss supermarket chain in order to receive age-related discounts on shopping on certain days in the future. I have already been granted senior discounts sporadically on our current journey without even asking for it. Of course, I did not intervene either.
During the past few weeks, I occasionally felt the need to come to terms with this day. I wanted to delve into Bukowski's masterpiece "Notes of a Dirty Old Man" in Los Angeles or Hemingway's classic "The Old Man and the Sea" here in the Caribbean. I have to confess, I have not gotten around to it yet, as the present offered too many interesting alternatives. Maybe it was just repression.
We are all travelers, even those who do not move, inevitably travel through time. And I have been doing that for 60 years now. So it's time for a brief summary.
The most important partner on my journey of life is my dear Sylvia: I hope that we will share many experiences on our journey together. Our now grown-up children Lars and Jan, who are already independently charting their own paths, were the most beautiful gift we were given. I would love to hug them in person today.
I am grateful to my parents as well, and hopefully they will be able to lead an independent life for a long time.
Also to all of you, my dear relatives, friends and acquaintances, I miss you especially on this day. Thank you very much for the kind wishes that have reached me. I am really looking forward to exchanging ideas with you personally again.
I wish you all contemplative moments with your families.
Warm regards
Dirk
