פֿאַרעפֿנטלעכט: 23.11.2016
Departure at 9:30 am, in the rain and chilly + 12 degrees, in Torreveija. Our destination is actually Malaga (460 km). However, after 260 km we didn't feel like driving any further and stayed in Almeria. We are parked on a large parking lot with 10 other motorhomes, close to the sea. It is designated as a motorhome parking space on the internet, apparently overnight stays are quite relaxed here in the southeastern part of Spain, at least in winter.
On the way here, there were surprisingly many new, huge 'bed castles' in every town along the coast, which must be thriving with tourism in summer. Also astonishing were the incredibly vast fields where lettuce and zucchinis were grown. There are only a few orange orchards left here, but plenty of lemons. The most striking were the square kilometer-sized greenhouses (see photo), they stretched as far as the eye could see. They are metal structures covered with a kind of fabric. As far as I could tell, tomatoes are grown in them.
Here in Almeria, there is a very nice promenade, but the rest of the city is ugly. It's quite windy, but the sun was shining and it was a pleasant + 18 degrees.
