Good sleep and waking up refreshed, well that was at least the plan for today. The reality looks a bit different. Chrissi slept all crumpled up in the corner because she thought Basti wouldn't have enough space. Basti had plenty of space, but he was already awake with the first rays of sun because we didn't darken the Jumper completely. But never mind, we've learned enough for the next night. We get up and sit in the bright sunshine in front of our camper. Chrissi rides her bike to get bread rolls in the town 3 km away, and has to let herself be overtaken by one or the other e-bike rider freewheeling. Basti prepares the rest of breakfast. In the sun, we enjoy our first breakfast on our honeymoon.
After our German-speaking neighbors have given us some tips on route planning and the best way to the beach, we set off. The pebble beach is very small, but we are the only ones here and enjoy the morning with swimming, sleeping, and doing nothing.
In the afternoon, we start the project "Visit Daniel". Basti's colleague is also on vacation at Lake Garda, in the town of Moniga del Garda, which is 5 km away, and has invited us to visit him. With the bikes, the 5 km should be easy to manage, we thought. After 1 km, it's clear that it's too hot to ride and it's all uphill all the time. Moniga del Garda is located on top of a hill and we were down at the water.
Furthermore, there are absolutely no bike paths and as a result, the Italians take absolutely no consideration for cyclists. So the 5 km turn into a real adventure. Miraculously, we make it unscathed to Daniel's holiday resort and are rewarded with extensive pool splashing.
In the evening, we go out for pizza together at the pizzeria in town.
The pizza tastes wonderful on the terrace right next to a small square. And luckily, the way back is only downhill.
We go to bed pretty worn out. And hopefully sleep better tonight.
