Babyhome and more - 18.07.

Where should I start? ....

Dear friends, it's hard to believe how little the people here have to live on. The women at the Babyhome wash themselves with buckets, without running water - soap and water must be saved. The babies are 'bathed' every day, which unfortunately is also necessary because there are hardly any diapers. You can probably imagine the rest.

Today I was told one of the many sad truths. One of the little babies is HIV positive, the mother left the baby in the field and then committed suicide. It breaks my heart and deepens my own gratitude.

The children here long for hugs, love and warmth, which I want to give wholeheartedly.

After bathing the children in a small bowl, I massage them with some oil. I have explained the baby massage to the women here, they are very surprised by how gently I touch the little ones. The mentality is simply completely different. The clothing for the babies is often torn, actually unusable.

These are moments that burn into your memory and yet, or precisely because of that, it is beautiful to be here. The children are happy and joyful when you are simply there for them.

Today I played football with some boys in the courtyard, Ivan (you can see him in the Peace picture) is now my new best friend. I would love to bring him home with me - He always carries my shoes for me and even wants to put them on for me. :)

In the evening, I listen to the songs of the older students, who gather several times a day for prayer. It sounds simply beautiful. The food tastes great, we sit together on the floor and eat mashed potatoes and beans with our hands. Vegetables and fruit may look bad for the German supermarket, but they taste a thousand times better. I think it's great.

Back to the roots and save the food !!

Sulaburunyi means good night

See you soon, sending you a big hug

Yours, Meike
