We received a tip from a cyclist to definitely visit the National Park Weerribben-Wieden. That was the experience today. We are repeatedly surprised and impressed by what there is to discover in the Netherlands.

In Kalenberg, there is a drawbridge for cyclists and pedestrians, which is raised when a larger ship is passing through the canal. The passage fee is collected in cash as the ship passes. For those interested: here is a video about it.

In Noordwolde, we stopped for lunch at the restaurant Jia Yuan. We were the only guests and started a conversation with the owner about our journey. The communication was primarily in English or via Google Translate Chinese->German, and our responses were in English. Very nice people and good, hearty food.
