I just realized that I still have some travel reports to catch up on ;)
My next destination after Pulau Pangkor was still open, but my heart had already decided to return to Georgetown, Penang. On my last day, like all guests at Nipah's Guesthouse, I was photographed for their Facebook page and they always write names and nationalities below, to show that they welcome people from all over the world!
Then off to the pink taxi, onto the ferry (which looked more like a slightly aged yacht that was converted into a passenger ferry) and back on the Sri Maju Express bus. Another pleasant bus ride - apart from the standing toilets at the rest area.
Of course, my accommodation was already decided, I went back to Peter and Mei. I really wanted to visit Penang Hill on the interior of the island to see the sunset and the area from above. So after a cable car ride and a trip on a small mountain train, I was presented with the following view:
Taking photos in the dark with my smartphone wasn't great, so I quickly decided to just watch and enjoy :)
While I was up there, I met two Malaysian students (who are also sisters) who were surprised to find out that I was traveling alone. We quickly got back to talking about food (what else *g*) and they asked me what street food I had already tried and also told me what I should try next, including Cendol. It was a funny conversation, both of them were quite young and in their first year of studying law. They explained to me that they would also like to travel, but it's not well-received to take a break after school, so they started their studies right away.
I then rode the cable car down and went to eat at the New Lane Street Food. I arrived quite late at Peter and Mei's place, and they wanted to know about my adventures of the day. We chatted for a while, it was already late, and when I told them everything, they said, 'You are a local now' :D
