For the stretch of 500 km it took us almost 11 hours. Once we got stuck on a road where it felt like no cars were passing by. In total, we were picked up 6 times, sometimes in air-conditioned cars, sometimes in trucks. From the second station we met a Spanish guy who also wanted to go to Palenque. Sometimes it got a bit tight with the three of us and all the luggage, but we managed to stick together. Everyone was super nice and it was really fun, but at the end of the day I was just exhausted and looking forward to a good bed and a shower.

That wasn't the case, without money and after traveling for 1.5 years, Michal's standards were quite low and we ended up in one of the most disgusting cabanas I could imagine. I barely wanted to enter the shower and on the bed we put Michal's sleeping bag and I also had a small sleeping bag inlay, but despite being completely exhausted, I could hardly sleep due to disgust. In retrospect, I would have preferred to sleep outside.
