We started our journey and have already been on the road for a few days! :-)
On our way south, we made a detour to an old acquaintance in Middle Franconia. Therefore, our blog only starts when we enter Italy.
As the first major stop in the south, we would like to call Naples. Our idea is that in a 'normal vacation' we can easily reach the north or the center of Italy. Therefore, we wanted to drive fairly quickly from the beginning until about Naples, and then take it slower from there.
The diary shows two remarkable points for this day: crossing the border into Italy at the Brenner, then driving at a speed of 80 (which is the maximum speed for a trailer convoy on the highway) with no overtaking allowed (which applies until Bologna) until reaching Lake Garda.
We have been to the southern end of Lake Garda years ago, so it's okay for a first stop. We still get a spot with a lake view, but it is so steep that we already appreciate the advantages of our new 'Mover system' on the caravan on the first day.
