To make a detour to the Amalfi Coast, we are staying just south of Salerno. It simply doesn't make sense to try to reach one of the campsites on the coast itself with the caravan - we actually tried it at first.
In Amalfi, we take a ferry to Positano to view the coastline from the sea.
