Highlight of the day: André traveled all the way from Madrid to hike 2 stages with me. 😊🥰
After a restful night, I started walking on time so I wouldn't miss André's arrival at the train station. Along the way, I found enough time to take some photos of particularly beautiful buildings.
After Lake Geneva, today's route takes us along Lake Neuchâtel, from one large lake to another. By the way, did you know that Lake Neuchâtel is the largest purely Swiss lake? In contrast, Lake Geneva is partially in France and Lake Constance is shared by Germany and Austria.
Komoot showed me a path that goes uphill through residential areas. We preferred the flat path that took us through wonderful nature reserves. The official hiking trail was also signposted.
We were overwhelmed by the diversity of the magnificent nature and were grateful to have chosen this path. Take a look at the beautiful photos we were able to take.
As often happens on this hike, together with André, I experienced that you just have to turn a corner and you are in a completely different world. So we encountered beautiful marsh landscapes, waterfalls, and untouched forests. Overall: fantastic!
However, we did not find any opportunity for a break along the way and were glad to have brought our own food and drinks. As a special surprise, André brought a South American specialty: Mate. It is a type of tea that is prepared in a special "cup" and drunk with a spoon straw. A drink that didn't immediately impress me on the first try, maybe it's a matter of getting used to it. 😋
With today's 23 kilometers, I have once again surpassed a milestone, it's already the fourth one. Now there are only about 20% of the total route left. On the one hand, I am proud of that, but on the other hand, a great adventure is slowly coming to an end. Soon I will also return to German-speaking Switzerland.
