Battle of Alberta

Sleeping in was the only item on our list today. Jörg was the first to go to breakfast, followed by me and at some point Andi also arrived. Everything is very relaxed. From breakfast we went to the voluntary meeting of the tour group and back to the room. Here we looked at what we could do. Since the sun came out every now and then and there was quite good visibility, we decided to go up to the Calgary Tower. We walked part of the way there on the +15 Skywalk. Since the winters here are often very harsh, +15 Skywalk was opened in 1970. Here 130 buildings are connected to each other via 86 closed bridges, so that you can get through Calgary over a length of 16km without setting foot on the street. A really cool thing, but since we didn't feel like shopping, we looked for an exit at some point and walked through downtown to the tower. Once there we went straight up. The tower is 190.8 m high. The viewing platform, I don't know, I wasn't paying attention, a little further down😅 A small part of the 360° platform has a glass floor. Jörg walked around there full of enthusiasm, the two of us at least managed to get the picture quickly and with a lot of effort😅 The view, wow. We didn't realize that Calgary was so big. From the tower we had a view of the skating rink at Olympic Plaza. We wanted to take a closer look at this. So go back down and go there. The medals were awarded at the 1988 Winter Olympics at the Olympic Plaza. By the way, in 1988 Jamaica also took part in the Games with a bobsleigh team for the first time. I'm just saying, *sing* it's beyond your imagination, Jamaica has a bobsleigh team🥰 I love cool runnings ❤️
We continued to the S-Bahn and the North Hill Center. We had read that there is an NHL sports store here. That was true, but apart from Calgary there was absolutely nothing to buy. So we walked through the center and treated ourselves to a little snack in the food court. Afterwards we took the S-Bahn back to the hotel. In the meantime, our travel group had spontaneously arranged to meet up for lunch at Last Brew. So we stopped by there for two or three drinks.

In the evening the game was Flames vs Oilers. We spent the hour we still had until we headed towards the Saddeldome together in the hotel. A break like this is good for us too😅 Our tour guide had another piece of candy for us today. They booked us the Loft VIP Experience. So before the game and during breaks we had our own little balcony from which we could watch the hustle and bustle going on while filling our stomachs with pizza, chicken wings and cookies. Was fun. And even if I repeat myself, it's really cool what the SportFanReisen team always comes up with to make the NHL trips something special.
I have to say the game itself is the best NHL game I've seen live so far. It went back and forth quickly with lots of good chances on both sides. In the end the Oilers won 3-2. And as the law would have it, victories have to be celebrated🤷🏼‍♀️ So we went back to Last Brew for a nightcap. The waiter 🙄 As always, I ordered an iced tea. It came pretty quickly too, just without a can. Hmm, okay, he's probably already finished mixing it 🤷🏼‍♀️ Take a sip and 😳😳😳 normal iced tea. How quickly you can get used to the fact that gin belongs in there🤣 And so we sit here and let our last evening in Galgary come to an end. Cheers 🥂
