Welcome back! After two days of technical difficulties, we're back! Yes, we know we messed up your morning routine and you've been eagerly waiting for the next entry. And we promise you, it's going to be an amazing entry! We don't want to spoil it, but maybe the best one of the whole trip. Ooh, exciting!
We'll start with something not so exciting: Marie has leg cramps. Sounds gross, but it's harmless. There are no pictures though, because it's not very pleasant. How did she get it? Well, from hiking... we've never walked so much in our lives. With nice weather and a lot of friction, Marie's calves were covered in red bumps. But! Today we went straight to Decathlon and bought compression socks for her calves. So today, you've probably already guessed it: hiking: 8 km through Algonquin National Park, 3 hours drive north from Toronto.
Even though we had breakfast in the morning, we were already hungry when we arrived at the park. Toast is always a good choice!
Our route is called Track & Tower Trail. There were many altimeters and beautiful views waiting for us.
Actually, our butts started hurting relatively quickly. The last national park trip was only 2 days ago. But we'll do anything for a great view. Fortunately, we overcame the last altimeters with about 130 stairs. After that, we were really exhausted 😄 but the view made up for it.
Up here, there were quite a few small mosquitoes and Marie was actually taking selfies - when else do you have such a view with her head in a picture?
And for those of you who have read this far, here's a little love story:
Benny said that a photo of Marie with her back turned to him would also look really beautiful. Maybe she should turn a little towards him, from the side. And in the background, 'You are the reason' was playing... and then Benny went down on one knee and opened a black box with a sparkling ring. He asked: Schnuff, will you marry me? Marie had more than just tears in her eyes, Benny too, and she answered with 'Yeeees'. Now she also went down on one knee and they embraced in front of this dreamlike scenery!
Actually, Benny wanted to say a lot more, but he was a bit nervous! Rightfully so! 😍
Now we're engaged! It's such a beautiful feeling. We can't put it into words. Marie sang the entire way down the park, jumping around and releasing all the happiness hormones available. It was a very special moment for us and will always be. The magic of the place and the two of us together: it was magical.
So that you can also enjoy a bit of nature: we went downhill again, which felt just as exhausting 😶.
Actually, there was another route planned, but this hiking trail was highlight enough. And where did we toast to our engagement? Right, we bought a Diet Pepsi and a huge pizza at Pizza Hut 😅 it was unique and typical for us, the Niederdoras.
And to conclude, here's another happy fiancee:
In this spirit, Marie has something she wants to say:
'Dearest birdie, or honey bunny. You are the man of my life and I can't imagine anything more beautiful than being here with you right now. Everywhere you create memories with me, I fall in love with you all over again. I'm so happy that I get to be your future wife. You & Me, forever. From the moon and back! ❤️'
Enough emotions! Otherwise we'll all need a tissue. We also send kisses to everyone who has already sent their congratulations through a prerelease info and we're looking forward to everything that comes next! Big hugs!
