Hello everyone,
As you know, we arrived in Vegas yesterday and spent today there. I'll call today 'Sensory Overload'. Our brains are really fried :-)
Las Vegas is a huge playground for adults. You think nothing is impossible here. You can travel from Venice to Paris in this city in no time, gamble in the casino, watch one of the many different shows, or simply walk through the streets with your mouth open. Each hotel here is like Frankfurt Airport and they are all signposted for sure. Otherwise, you would definitely get lost. There are different restaurants, fast food chains (in our hotel alone there are 3 Starbucks), shops, entertainment programs, tigers, dolphins... I have to stop, otherwise the list would be too long. Oh, by the way, you can also sleep in the hotels :-) You also feel like you're living in the future here. Everything has a vending machine, everything is highly automated and modern. Yes, even the taxis drive by themselves - called autonomous driving. And not just straight - no - through the whole city, no matter where you want to go. Traffic lights, curves, crosswalks - no problem. This is made possible by the BMW 540i cars with 10 radar systems and 9 LIDAR systems - PER vehicle!
We started the day at the famous 'Welcome to the fabulous Las Vegas' sign.
Then we headed down the Strip. Here, we visited all the famous and well-known hotels. Both from the inside and the outside - both were highlights. Only this extreme heat here in Nevada is a bit challenging - especially if you want to do a lot of walking. But as soon as you go inside somewhere, you get the necessary cooling right away. Yes, even some of the streets are air-conditioned :-) as I said before - the future.
The sky is not real! It's always like this -> Day
After our brains couldn't keep up with collecting impressions anymore, we decided to go to the shooting range to clear our heads :-) (OK, I admit, this was already a planned event of mine in Germany). I think the videos in the group captured the experience very well. It was definitely amazing. After that, we were then taken back to the hotel in a 'military sled'. Besides all the limousines, we arrived with this thing. Needless to say, people were looking at us :-)
Now we are in the hotel, taking a little break for tonight. As you know, Vegas only comes alive at night, and we want to experience that again tonight. I think today's day can be best described with many pictures, which you can find in the gallery above. By the way, the first dollars we put into a slot machine were immediately turned into $45, but we lost that 10 minutes later. In the end, the house always wins.
Oh, about our room... there were several private inquiries about it. Here's how it went: Last night we were at the craps table and unbelievably rolled a 7 three times in a row. As a result, many people at the table won several thousand dollars. After that, we were then offered a free upgrade by the manager, Nick Papagiorgio... Wait a minute... CUT! It all sounds like a movie, right!? It is :-) I stole the story from 'The Hangover' in Las Vegas (great movie) and just wanted to fool you. The true story is simply that Vegas is really inexpensive during weekdays. We paid only €35 per person per night for this amazing room. We just had to treat ourselves to this luxury because otherwise a room like this would easily cost €250+ per night. Please forgive me for the little joke :-)
For those of you who also feel like going to Vegas, you can really have an affordable vacation at the Luxor Hotel. There's currently an offer on Urlaubspiraten.de for only +/- €350 (6 days + flight).
We're getting ready now and then we're off to the Strip. Starting tomorrow, it will be more rural again as we leave the city and head towards Bryce Canyon. Then we'll be captivated by the beautiful landscapes in the USA for the next few days until we arrive in LA on August 27th.
Greetings to Germany,
Dean + Luisa
