This morning nothing was working here. No electricity, no water, no internet, no clean toilet, everything was wet. So yesterday's storm was worth it. Good thing I had hung up my shoes to dry - now they were really wet.
Originally, today was planned to visit Parque de Tayrona, a national park with lots of nature nearby. But since breakfast was already delayed here and we had to expect thick mud in the Tayrona Park, we changed our plans at short notice. I must say, decision making is very relaxed with Julia. One person makes a suggestion with the options yes / no and then a decision is made.
So off to Minca, a small village in the mountains above Santa Marta, about an hour away by bus 🚎. We had received a tip for accommodation from two Germans. Finca Bolivar with a Swiss - quickly arranged via WhatsApp.
Minca is located at an altitude of about 800 m, which is why the temperature is very pleasant. The finca was a dream, located in the middle of the rainforest and directly on a mountain river. No noise, no other people - only the sound of the river and jungle noises. It was a 5-minute walk to the village. It's really beautiful here, a great place to relax for a day.
In the afternoon, we walked to a waterfall in the middle of the forest. I went "swimming", but it was too cold for Julia 😊
For us hiking enthusiasts, it was quite something - an hour there and an hour back. There was a path, but you had to be careful where you stepped. And it was very muddy because it is very humid here and it rains almost every day - it's a rainforest after all.
I wouldn't really call us nature enthusiasts, but the vegetation here is very impressive 🌿.
Back at the finca, a little chat with our Swiss landlord Daniel and relaxing on our terrace. And I finally got to clean my extremely muddy shoes with one of my disposable t-shirts - they are still wet though.
Showering in a private bathroom with plenty of water 💦 and everything was tip-top clean, was also very pleasant. By the way, Julia took a cold shower while I took a nice hot shower. Well, if you don't swim at the waterfall, you get punished immediately.
Dinner, nightcap, and off to bed - a nice relaxed day after all the traveling of the past few days.
