2nd day Strasbourg

פֿאַרעפֿנטלעכט: 05.09.2021

The first night was a really crappy night :-(. It was so noisy and our neighbor decided to make sure there was no peace and shouted in French from the balcony. This unbelievable procedure lasted for at least five minutes and I was wide awake in bed. Littlefoot felt inspired by the disturbance and jumped into bed with me and snuggled up against my arm. Puppy and I looked over to Daniela but she was fast asleep - unbelievable - :-(.

After a delicious breakfast, we took the tram to the center and borrowed audio guides from the tourist office. We had to follow a specific route according to the plan, enter the corresponding numbers, and listen. I really liked this kind of city tour. It was very interesting to learn about old half-timbered houses or bridge constructions.

I especially liked 'Petit France'. It's a dreamy neighborhood with beautiful colorful half-timbered houses, surrounded by small canal streets and these flower-adorned bridges - a dream. We were all very excited here. We had lunch at an Italian restaurant. The food wasn't great, but the location right by a small canal overlooking Petit France was amazing. Well Fina, what can I say, nothing beats your mom's lasagna :-)!

We diligently walked and visited all the points on the city map. In the end, I could hardly put one foot in front of the other, I was so tired. But we wanted to take advantage of the great weather and went to 'Place De La Republique'. We sat on the grass in a beautifully landscaped garden and here Littlefoot was able to romp around to her heart's content. The cutie had plenty of fun and, of course, had to serve as a model again. She hates it when we photograph her. She looks demonstratively to the side. It's unbelievable.

What particularly caught our attention is that in Strasbourg, cyclists are allowed to ride through the crowded inner alleys. Okay, Strasbourg is a bike city, but racing through the center like that is not for me. It reminded me of inconsiderate e-bike riders in the Allgäu region, who drive according to the motto 'whoever brakes loses'!

Now we are sitting outside at a Mexican restaurant in Kehl. Very close to our hotel and we are ending the evening very comfortably. We negotiated two happy hour cocktails for the following recommendation in our blog ;-) - so: go to El Bolero - delicious food and great cocktails!!!

And if it gets noisy at night again....then I'll shout from the balcony...!
