What a thunderstorm ๐Ÿ™ˆ

In the middle of the night, we were awakened by a loud bang ๐Ÿ˜ฏ, it was terrible! I was convinced that half of the hotel must be gone, but then we quickly realized it was a thunderstorm. Then a heavy rain followed ๐Ÿ™ˆ, crazy. Unfortunately, the thunderstorm lasted for a while, so there was no chance for sleep.

At around 7:00 am, the alarm went off, because I thought today was the bike tour ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ˜‚, hmm, but that's tomorrow. I completely messed up the days ๐Ÿ˜‡! Well, then I turned over to the other side and went back to sleep.

After our delicious breakfast, we had to rearrange our plans. We wanted to hike a trekking trail today, surrounded by rice terraces and surrounded by the jungle ๐Ÿ˜€. The weather conditions were good for that. The sun was hidden by the clouds, so we could happily start the Campuhan Ridge Walk. We quickly found the starting point of the famous trekking trail๐Ÿ‘ and at the same time, the sun came out ๐Ÿคจ. The path was paved with stone slabs, which was very pleasant. It went slightly uphill at first, and whenever you looked to the left/right, there were lush green rice terraces in the jungle. It looks so beautiful. I would have loved to put a chair there and stayed there the whole time ๐Ÿค—. Fortunately, we kept walking ๐Ÿ˜‰, because we were able to watch some local women harvesting rice and take photos. We thought that was great. But what those women do there is really hard work โ˜น๏ธ! One woman cuts off some rice bunches with a small sickle and hands them to her colleague. She keeps hitting the bunch on a sieve over and over again, so that the grains separate from the stems. That goes on all day long!

At some point, the path turned into a road and you could tell by the traffic. We turned around and walked back the same way. When we finally arrived, we refreshed ourselves in a nice bistro๐Ÿ‘. Because now it was time for culture ๐Ÿง. It's a shame that the trekking trail wasn't twice as long ๐Ÿ˜‚. First, we visited a temple๐Ÿ˜€, okay I have visited quite a few temples in Asia now, but here they are all quite manageable and you usually can't even get to the main temple because the gate is always closed. Well, that's a shame, of course, but it doesn't really bother me ๐Ÿ˜‡!

Now we went to the palace in Ubud! Well, I'm quickly done with the palace report: What was that? Here too, all gates were closed, constantly stopping, so it was not worth it at all ๐Ÿ˜Ž!

Now we wanted to go back to the hotel and what struck me on the way back were the many stray dogs here as well โ˜น๏ธ! Some look so bad, it almost brings tears to my eyes.

Right now we're lying by the hotel pool, relaxing for the evening. We wanted to take the hotel shuttle bus to the center and have a cocktail๐Ÿน on Maren's birthday. Happy birthday again, dear Maus ๐Ÿ˜˜๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽŠ!

Best regards, Anke and Daniela

PS: Tomorrow we're going on the bikes๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ˜‚
