Flying over the jungle of Monteverde with Canopy Costa Rica
After a nice boat tour on Lake 'Laguna de Arenal', we followed a long and bumpy car ride through the mountains. After we arrived in Santa Elena and checked into our hostel, we headed straight to the Canopy.
Here you fly through the jungle of Costa Rica on a total of 9 ziplines, with the longest zipline being almost 1.6km long and 80m high.
The ziplines run between the tree canopies and offer a completely different view of the jungle than you would normally experience. In general, the ziplines get longer and by the last and most exciting zipline, you get a queasy feeling in your stomach. But the longest "Zip-Line in Latin America" is definitely worth it! It is 1590m long and you fly much higher above the trees than before. Before you start, you are strapped in the "Superman" position, so you fly over the jungle from a bird's eye view. Finally, you can do the 'Tarzan swing'. It all happens very quickly: the gate is opened, then it's 'just bend the knees', then you get a little push, and then you plunge mercilessly 50m into the depths.
Just jumping into life!
It was an exciting jump that really got our adrenaline pumping at the end.
In the evening, we took a 'night walk' through the jungle. We saw various toucans, spiders, snakes, frogs, fish, and three sloths. The guide had a lot of knowledge, and without him, I don't think we would have seen any of the animals ๐
