After a damp and cold night in the roof tent at only 5°Celsius, we warm ourselves in the morning sun and then pack everything together. By now we have practice and are relaxed after 30 minutes of packing up the chairs, table, camping equipment, and tent.
Next, we head to Rundu, the seat of the Kavango region, at the beginning of the Caprivi Strip. There we stock up on groceries for the next few days and stroll through the mall. We discover T-shirts with the VW logo, Adidas items, and Dr. Oetker Italian pizza. Here too, a large gap between rich and poor is evident, starting from futuristic new suburbs with villa characteristics, to simple mud huts across the street.
Today we only drive a short distance and have found a hidden camp just before Divundu. The landscape changes on the way there. It gets greener, with many mud round huts and roadside stalls - from firewood, carvings, to vegetable and meat stalls.
As we arrive at the camp, another one of the incredibly beautiful sunsets is approaching - then we make a fire, grill vegetables, and warm ourselves by the campfire. Tomorrow a long drive awaits us almost to the end of the Caprivi Strip.
