Fes or Fez

פֿאַרעפֿנטלעכט: 05.04.2019

Yesterday we took the bus to Fes. We are staying with Chaymae and Nora's family. Along with Leticia, Jo, and Henry from France and Simon from Poland. Oh, and super cute kittens!

We have dinner together and dance a bit before everyone settles on a lounge in the living/sleeping/dining room.

This morning, we had breakfast together and then went on a city tour with Nora. First, we visited a castle on a hill in the south of the city, from where we had a wonderful view of the Fes Medina. And then we went right into the Medina. Fes is the historical and craft capital of Morocco, and the Medina is huge. I would never find my way out on my own.

Nora is great. We walk through narrow streets, often stopping because we pass by a mosque, the oldest university in the world, or a nice market stand.

We then find an old palace, which is now only inhabited by an artist who has turned it into a small museum and exhibits his paintings. We have to wait 45 minutes before we can go in because everyone is in Friday afternoon prayer.

I was expecting sunshine, but instead it has been raining all afternoon. So we also go back home.
