Hiking around Zaberfeld

Today on the way to Zaberfeld to hike in the STROMBERG-HEUCHELBERG nature park. At least there is sunshine and lots of lakes to delight. The start was in Zaberfeld at the nature park center. On the way there were beautiful photographs of butterfly caterpillars and finished moths. Great shots - really - of the animals in their respective stages.

We passed the EHMETSKLINGE swimming lake. There is a wonderful lawn here with shady trees and lots of space. Limited so that no one violates the nature reserve; which is also fenced in.

The hiking marker ZA1 helps us to find the appropriate path. So we got to the KATZENBACH RESERVOIR without any difficulties. Blankets and towels, stand-up paddling boards, picnic baskets, swimming rings for the little people and much more were also unpacked here. And everyone was able to enjoy the very warm weather under the trees and by the water. Since the season ends on August 31st. ended - as it said on a sign - unfortunately the kiosk and sanitary facilities were no longer open. We enjoyed our supplies from the backpack and continued walking around the lake.

Past paddocks then towards WEILER on the Zaber. Here, too, a surprise: the bird breeding association was founded in 1973 and we saw, among other things, silkie chickens, peacocks including chicks, Peking ducks and various other chickens along the way.

Then up and down the hill again, past vineyards - with a view of the beautiful church of Zaberfeld-Michelbach. Zaberfeld surprises us again - this time with a WATER WORLD ZABERFELD on the outskirts of town. Not only has a Kneipp pool been created here, but the Zaber stream has also been turned into a water playground. A towel in the backpack would have been very helpful. We didn't know; So continue in your hiking boots back to the EHMETSKLINGE swimming lake and the inn there.

Given the summer weather, it was well attended and the shaded areas were no longer very plentiful. But there were still a number of parasols. Quickly set up and move a few chairs - there was room for us. Beer and fries were quickly ordered, brought to the table and everything was good. A nice trip that we would like to take again in winter.
