After spending a night near Thames, we continued towards 'Hot water beach,' which the locals also call 'German Beach.' However, we didn't dig our own warm pool like most others; instead, we just lay in the sun and watched the surfers from the beach.
In the afternoon, we headed to the next top attraction:
Cathedral Cove, the beautiful Cathedral Cove with its famous giant stone arch, is quite a tourist magnet. When we arrived there, the entire parking lot was already full.
After a 1-hour walk, we finally reached the Cove and sat there in the sun for a while before heading back and spending the night at a parking lot by the sea.
The next morning, we drove the notorious Road 309 from Whitianga to Coromondel and visited the Waiau Falls.
Then we went to Castle Rock, where after about a 1-hour climb, you have a great view.
Lastly, we stopped at Stuart and his wild pigs. The pigs are living their best lives there and are not at all fearful. Especially the piglets were very cute!
In Coromondel, we then had our first New Zealand ice cream and made our way to Earl's Paradise, where we were supposed to meet Marius.
