Joy and sorrow close together

Được phát hành: 25.05.2024

Today was all about Inge's birthday party. At 11 a.m., head chef Gerd called his helpers to peel potatoes. Schnitzel with two kinds of potato salad was on the menu, and for around 40 people there were several kilos of potatoes - as they are called in Bavaria - to be prepared. Gerd had already pounded the schnitzel yesterday, and today it was time to bread it.

The hours passed and some people used the time for a flying visit to Bad Ems. The town, which has a population of just under 10,000, is a real gem. Beautifully restored stately homes, the beautiful, sprawling spa gardens, many small cafes and restaurants and the Lahn river running through the middle, its water sparkling excitedly in the sunshine. Personally, I have seen few cities in Germany that I liked better. So the question arose as to why there was nothing going on in the streets on a Saturday. If it hadn't been for two weddings, complete with photographers and curious onlookers, the town center would have been almost deserted - and that on a sunny day in mid-May. As a Bad Emser, that would not let me sleep well anymore...

Inge's birthday in the evening was definitely more of a spectacle. The food that Gerd and his Ute conjured up was once again top notch. The choir, under Irmi's direction, then served a self-composed, multi-verse birthday song for Inge and her Herbert, who will be celebrating their iron wedding anniversary next year, i.e. 60 years of marriage.

But things are not always rosy for the motorhome enthusiasts either. As board member Karl Meyer announced today, club member Ralf died yesterday at the age of just 69. He had been seriously ill for some time, but his sudden death came as a great surprise. One thing is certain: the RMF friends will keep the memory of the quiet, friendly man from Hamburg with a smile in their hearts.
