Day 101 - recovered

Day of departure - this time for real!

We have omelette and coffee for breakfast, pack our things and check out around 11:00 am. Since our taxi is not ready until 1:00 pm, we spend the time at the hostel. Jonna goes to the pool. I stay in front guarding our luggage and edit some of the vacation footage. Suddenly, about an hour earlier, a poorly English-speaking local stands in front of me and asks if I am Jonna. Completely caught off guard by the unexpected 'over-punctuality', I confirm to him that we are ready to leave, upon which he brings the car.

We drive along the north coast of Bali, from east to west. The drive takes almost 2.5 hours and costs us 25€. The driver drops us off directly at our new accommodation, Izaacs Bed and Breakfast. We are warmly greeted by the operator and informed that unfortunately we won't get the room we booked. Instead, we move into the family room with three beds, again all single beds - well, that's how it is.

We have a light meal, rest for a while, jump in the pool and go to the supermarket in the evening. Since our accommodation is a bit outside, it is about a 15-minute walk away - luckily we haven't walked much today.

For the rest of the evening, we use FaceTime to connect with home and chat for hours with friends and family.

As night slowly falls, we realize that although we bought doughnuts and soft drinks (now empty) at the supermarket, we didn't buy water - Why do we always get especially thirsty when we know we have nothing to drink? Although it is possible to refill your water bottle at the hostel, it is not allowed after 7:00 pm - that's when the kitchen closes.

So I arm myself with 0.50€ and walk through the streets, hoping to find a small local mini-market. After passing several closed roller shutters and locked entrances, I discover another market that is open. I try to communicate with gestures what I am looking for and actually get a bottle of water - a night with a dry throat has been avoided!

We write a little on the terrace of the hostel for the blog and then go to sleep.
