We have left our beautiful free camping spot again, first stop Hokitika. It's a very cute little village by the sea with a beautiful beach. There was driftwood washed up on the shore from the storms, and now people and artists have started making different things with the wood, which is very impressive. We also saw 2 dolphins briefly surfing at this beach. Then we went into the village to have a coffee and check out the jade stones. This village is famous for its green stones. Pancackrocks was the next stop, it was nice to see the special shape of those rocks but it wasn't absolutely mind-blowing. Then we went to visit an old coal mine in Denniston. That was cool too, there weren't many people because the weather wasn't great, but it was still impressive. You would have had an amazing view if the weather had been nice. Our next destination was to find a campsite at Mokihinui, and we found one there. The further west we drove, the less touristy it got. And there, we could already notice that everything was much more uncomplicated, the landscape was incredibly beautiful and untouched, with kilometers of long beaches. The campsite we found was also quite large, the owner even had a café on the campground where she baked herself. And everything was very clean. After dinner, we went to sleep.
