Munduk - Bali
Once you leave Ubud behind. You leave the rather flat southern part of Bali very soon. After a short drive, you will see the more mountainous regions of the island. It should also be noted that the climate is different when you get off the bus in Bedugul. When you are leaving Ubud, you may open the window to replace the heat with fresh air, but when you get off in Bedugul, you may need to take out a sweater. However, you quickly get used to it and consider it a cool refreshment after the oppressive heat of the past few days.
Someone quickly wanted to sell me a taxi again for the 22 km journey to Munduk. I objected directly and wanted to rent a scooter, as he said I could indeed rent a scooter in Munduk. After asking how I was supposed to get there, he replied with a laugh that I should maybe fly like a bird, and soon my scooter for the next few days was organized.
So I put on my wind and rain jacket and took off again. After a short drive, I reached another steep ascent in the form of many switchbacks. The weather up here didn't look inviting anymore, the fog was getting thicker, but luckily it didn't start raining as expected. Eventually, I finally went downhill again and reached the valley of Munduk where the temperatures were a perfect 24 degrees.
Munduk is a small mountain village surrounded by perpetual green forests or beautiful rice fields. In this area, many other useful things are also grown, such as coffee, cocoa, pepper, and other spices, thanks to the perfect climate.
The area is fantastic for hiking. I walked through some small beautiful villages in the area, met many warm and friendly people, and often found myself in beautiful rice fields. In addition, a hike in the nearby forests is highly recommended. There, the next day, I found 5 breathtaking waterfalls, all flowing with a lot of water due to the rainy season. Oh, and today there was also a lot of water from above, which didn't stop me from continuing my hike. At the last upper and easily accessible waterfall named "Golden Valley," I enjoyed a delicious coconut coffee at the "Golden Valley Eco Cafe" and then refreshed myself in the waterfall and enjoyed a shower in the splashing water from about 20 meters above. Wonderful...
The next day, I took a trip down to Lovina. Here, I visited the "Brahma Arama Vihara," a really great Buddhist temple with an incredibly peaceful atmosphere. Afterwards, I enjoyed a very soothing warm bath at the nearby "Hot Springs Banjar." In the afternoon, I was supposed to visit the "Git Git" waterfall, but the rain had a different opinion, so I drove straight back to Munduk.
