Day 9: Yellowstone NP, West Thumb, Mud Volcano, Canyon Southrim

Today, we nearly completed the round course that resembles the number 8, which runs through the park. We still have a few 'hotspots' left to visit, but we will explore them tomorrow.

Today, we headed to the West Thumb Basin in bitter cold temperatures of -2°C. It is the largest geyser basin at Yellowstone Lake, partially frozen and covered in snow. Once again, the park showed a different side, and it was stunning!

We then continued to visit the Mud Volcano. The horrific smell of sulfur reached its peak here, surpassing all previous smells!

Due to a road closure, we unexpectedly visited the Grand Canyon Southrim. Once again, there were plenty of cars parked along the side of the road. Bear alert! Unfortunately, we were a bit late and could only admire the backside of a bear. Still nice though.😊

Today, we also encountered many bison and elks. They never disappoint!

Due to the road closure, we spent more time in the car than anything else today. But that will change tomorrow. Our last full day in Yellowstone NP awaits us!
