Our travel group is getting bigger

Được phát hành: 24.02.2017

First of all: No one is pregnant, we just got new travel mates. But that was only later in Wanaka. After Fjordland, we headed north to Te Anau and then for a day to Milford Sound, the most famous tourist attraction in New Zealand. But it is really impressive. We took a boat tour there, unfortunately without seeing any dolphins, but the weather was quite good at the beginning, at least for Milford Sound conditions :D On the way back, we couldn't see any mountains anymore because there were clouds everywhere. After Milford Sound, we were in probably the most backpacker-friendly place in New Zealand: Lumsden. Not really big and there were no special attractions, but there was a free campsite in the middle of the town that even had Wi-Fi! Although the Wi-Fi actually belonged to the library (libraries here always have free Wi-Fi and free power outlets), it reached the campsite. There was also a sink and picnic benches under a roof and a grassy area for tents. Unfortunately, tents are often prohibited on free campsites here, and many campsites only allow self-contained vehicles. So, it's kind of rewarding if you buy a bigger and heavier car. Because we liked Lumsden so much, we took a day off and stayed longer than planned. After that, we went to Queenstown, the city where every backpacker seems to want to go, and then to Wanaka, where we did a hike to Roys Peak among other things. Since we had some difficulties with two of our travel mates, we separated from them and quickly found new ones. A Swede and an American who decided to quit his job and travel with us. Additionally, someone else joined us with their car. Since their car has a kitchen and a sort of living room, cooking has become much easier since Wanaka.
