Marina d'Or (as of mid-2024, it is called Magic World Resort) is an old residential area and 'holiday city' located in the municipality of Orpesa/Oropesa del Mar, in the province of Castelló/Castellón, in the Comunitat Valenciana (Spain, Europe); situated right on the Costa Azahar (or Costa dels Tarongers). As I mentioned earlier, as of mid-2024, it is called Magic World Resort because Marina d'Or definitively closed its doors at the end of 2023 after undergoing a tremendous crisis, and just at the beginning of 2024, the Alicante company Magic Costa Blanca (which operates amusement parks in Benidorm) bought the entire development to transform it into the new 'holiday city' Magic World Resort. The new 'holiday city' opened its doors in June 2024.
The old Marina d'Or, one of the most luxurious and famous beach vacation destinations on the Mediterranean coast during the 90s, 2000s, and 2010s, was inaugurated in 1997 by businessman Jesús Ger García, with the contribution of former Prime Minister José María Aznar. Its two famous campaign slogans were 'Marina d'Or, how cool!' and 'Marina d'Or, Holiday City; tell me'.
