Hello- greetings and hi 🥳
So.
Chiang Mai wasn't really exciting. There were 1000 temples to see (we only visited two 🤭🤫) and that's about it.
Chiang Mai is the capital of the North. And completely crowded with tourists.
The Old City is still surrounded by a square-shaped river, and you can still see the former city walls at every corner.
Contrary to all the people who told us to be careful with "scams in Thailand," we can't agree with that at all.
On the contrary - people are extremely friendly, we have always paid the same prices as the locals. And - another fact is that the North of Thailand is much more relaxed and friendlier than the South.
For whatever reason.
We spent two days wandering around all sorts of markets. And passed the time - we're really getting tired of temples.
Man man man - Germany needs something like these markets. If you're looking for something, you'll definitely find it.
From cosmetics to flowers and clothes to toys and all unnecessary junk.
And at a price - perfect for Swabians 😛💶💸💸
Otherwise, we had one of the most delicious dishes on this trip here. Khao Soi - the main dish of Northern Thailand. A coconut curry soup with crunchy noodles, chicken, and vegetables. Sooooo incredibly delicious, really.
On Sunday, we left at 3:30 p.m. for our next and final stop - Bangkok.
The train journey (night train) went until 5:45 a.m. on Monday 😱.
We were in second class. The seats are transformed into beds by a staff member around 7 p.m. Fresh covers for the blanket, pillow, and mattress. Real luxury compared to the trains in Vietnam 🤦🏽♀️
More about Bangkok in the next few days.... unless we get lost here 🙄😂
