03.-05.12.2016: North Stradbroke Island

Được phát hành: 19.01.2017

In early December, we went to North Stradbroke Island (Straddie) for a long weekend. We took the train to Cleveland on the coast early in the morning and then took a 25-minute ferry to the island. Upon arriving at the hostel, Melissa, Christian, Angela, and I went for our first beach walk. After the first swim, we all got our first sunburn. After walking about 10 km in flip-flops, we reached Point Lookout and decided to take the bus back to the hostel due to the risk of thunderstorms.

The next day, we walked along the beaches to Point Lookout again and took a couple of swim breaks. In the evening, we enjoyed a glass of wine by the beach right next to the hostel. We even got to see the starry sky and bioluminescent plankton.

On the following day, we used the inconvenient bus system to go to Amity Point. The friendly bus driver even showed us his secret beach where dolphins could supposedly be spotted. We had barely been there for 10 minutes, admiring the local koalas, when a friendly fisherman called us over: a family of four dolphins was passing by. We were even allowed to feed the playful animals with his fish. While snorkeling, we could even hear the famous clicking sounds.

In the late afternoon, we took the ferry back to the mainland and returned home to Brisbane.
