Today's route: Sur Bayard (1150 m) - les Crottes - Chalet de La Torrens - Col des Mattes (1930 m) - le Pron - l'Étrye - Col de Bassachaux - Col de Chésery - Refuge de Chésery (1950 m)
Spent a wonderful, long, and warm night in a sleeping bag under the open sky, together with many bats. We left at 8 am and quickly climbed the 800 meters of altitude to Col des Mattes, despite tired legs (3rd day?). Unfortunately, the sky is mostly cloudy throughout the day, and the sun rarely warms up. During the lunch picnic, we decide to stay overnight at Refuge de Chésery in Switzerland (near Champéry) to have a warm meal for the first time. Luckily, we made that decision because it would have been too cold (for Lis) to sleep outside.
Many installations for winter tourism everywhere, including on the Swiss side, with the corresponding "development" of the landscape, and again a lot of (car) day tourism on the French side.
Tomorrow, a small part of the route will go through Switzerland. By evening, we will be near Samoëns. The further plan is still open as it will rain heavily at least on Sunday.
