21.03.2023 from Oxley River NP to Smoky Cape in Hat Head NP
It's cold at night, as long as we sat by the fire, it warms, a possum approaches, climbs a tree and watches us. We have already followed one of these on the West Australia tour and taken a picture.
In the early morning we hike along the rim, look at the waterfall from a different perspective, see the lower pool more clearly and the masses of debris and rubble that block the canyon.
24 km further, same NP, another water spectacle awaits us, the Tia waterfall, which doesn't cascade down from above, but gurgles down the rocks in cascades. The rock here is not so steep, not so free of vegetation, but still very beautiful to look at.
We continue driving over the Great Dividing Range, have already been up to about 1000 m high, which makes the pleasant to cool temperature, the rain that works behind the range and the thin air😊
But this altitude causes something completely different, a cold rainforest, with tall eucalyptus trees, tree ferns, kangaroos, wombats and parrots, with a green impenetrable vegetation, which looks even more beautiful in the rain today.
When we arrive at the coast it is raining, it can happen. We stay in Port Macquarie and indulge in the World Wide Web, the next two campsites in the NP have to be booked. Oh, we are looking forward to news from home and posting pictures. The last driving section to the campsite in Hat Head NP is drizzling rain again, we drive through a water-dominated landscape with lush meadows, wide rivers and friendly-looking cows.
Unfortunately, it is raining particularly heavily when we arrive at the campsite. Nevertheless, we take a short walk to the sea, at least say hello once. We use a rain-free window to fry the fish that we have today.
Now we have planned the tour to the end, sit in the car and listen to the rain.
