Day 1 (2018) For the 5th time in the UAE!

2nd October 2018

Day 1 - Frankfurt - Abu Dhabi

Our 5th trip to Abu Dhabi is coming up! Thanks to the rescheduling of the Hessian autumn break, the travel time has moved forward, this time we will be traveling in early October. A fact that I don't find so great because it will be correspondingly hot...

So let's just hope that the thermometer doesn't move towards 40 degrees too often.

We start promptly at 11:20 in the morning with Etihad towards Abu Dhabi. The plane is super punctual, the on board entertainment is fantastic as always, and the reservation of my vegetarian meal has also worked. Perfect!

As in the previous year, we land in Abu Dhabi around 8 p.m. - in complete darkness. The plane parks on the apron, and we have to take a bus to the terminal. When leaving the plane, hot air claps at me, giving me the feeling of a sauna. The weather display confirms it: +34 degrees. Oh God, even hotter than last year... Quickly into the air-conditioned terminal.

In the terminal, we see the advertisement for the Warner Bros. theme park, whose construction we had already seen last year. It is now open, and we will of course pay it a visit 🤪🤩

After passing through immigration and picking up our luggage, we head to the car rental counter. This time we chose the cheap version of the rental car again: a Nissan Sunny. This costs (picked up at Avis) €201.74 for 10 days with all insurance and 2nd driver! That's a real bargain! And fortunately - compared to the Sunny we had on a previous visit - this one even has a radio and a USB charger 😅

Air conditioning is standard here. Lucky us! We continue to the family in Al Raha Gardens, where we are already expected 😊
