We actually didn't have Hokitika in mind until Kyra came up with the idea of searching for Greenstone herself. In New Zealand, there are several places that are perfect for this and Hokitika is one of them. Pounamu is considered extremely precious and powerful by the Maori people, and it is like a treasure. According to the Maori, you cannot find the stone yourself, but it finds you. The Maori tradition also states that the first Jade stone found should not be kept, but passed on to someone else. The value of Pounamu increases with the number of owners and it is passed down from generation to generation among the Maori. In New Zealand, they are considered highly valued heirlooms.
Today, we were on our way to Arthurs Pass and when Paddy wanted to turn right into the parking lot, the....IDIOT...behind us thought he could overtake us on the right at that moment. And tadaaaaa - he of course scraped his car against ours on the right side (yes - everyone is okay). As it goes in NZ, we drove to the nearest police station....which of course was unoccupied. The....IDIOT :D...who crashed into us could hardly speak English, and as a result, the insurance company told me on the phone that we have to wait until they go directly to the AA and document everything with a translator. We can't go to the workshop before that. So now we're stuck in Greymouth again because of the car (...and an idiot ^^) and waiting for the insurance company's call...
