Khao Sok National Park - Day 2

Chop etilgan: 19.02.2018

After the mostly sleepless night, thanks to the spider in our room (by the way, we didn't see it again), another day with a full program awaited us. First of all, breakfast was served. We could choose between rice soup and pancakes. I chose the pancakes, Luke chose the rice soup. After that, we had to pack directly, because we wouldn't come back to the accommodation.

Hiking is the miller's pleasure!

As the first item of the day, a three-hour jungle hike awaited us. Since we were, according to Julie's statement, a 'small and young group', she decided to take the more difficult path. The easier one would have been much more preferable to me in my condition, but I didn't want to spoil the fun for the others. And so we set off to conquer the 'Big Tree Nature Trail'.

To my shame, I have to confess that I didn't notice much of this hike. After only 10 minutes, I was so sweaty and out of breath that Luke had to either drag me behind him or push me in front of him for the whole hike. The climate really got to me! I also wasn't able to take a single photo along the way, as I was so busy trying to stay conscious that this task fell to Luke for once.

In the end, I somehow survived the hike. I sweated in places I didn't even know you could sweat. I recommend everyone who plans to do such a hike to bring enough water and spare clothes.

By the way, my fear of where to go if I need to use the toilet on the way was completely unfounded: I simply sweat it all out and didn't have to go to the toilet once.

Market Visit

As exhausting as the hike was, the program was not yet over. We made a stop at a local market. And I mean really LOCAL. No tourist goes here. This is where Thais do their shopping. And I can tell you, the smells were really intense! Nothing I would describe as pleasant. And whether I would eat any of the meat lying in the heat, on which flies were already sitting, is also questionable. It was definitely an interesting experience!

Temple Festival

As the conclusion of the tour, Julie took us to a temple festival in Takua Pa. Here I slowly started to feel better again. Only to be forced to try insects!

Yes, I let myself be persuaded. It's definitely not my favorite food, but it actually only tasted like the seasoning, which had a strong resemblance to Maggi. Luke ate them like chips!

Two exciting days come to an end

After the temple festival, we returned to the hotel. There we could recover from the excursion.

Our little trip to Khao Sok National Park was definitely worth the money! We would do it again at any time, despite the night with the spider and the very demanding jungle hike for me. It was an experience that I wouldn't want to miss. We really saw a lot on the tour, the program was really great! Thailand definitely has more to offer than just beautiful beaches. I can only advise everyone not to miss out on the unique scenery of Khao Sok National Park! And maybe you don't have as big of a problem with creepy crawlies as I do ;)
