Canyon hike and Garden of Eden

As soon as we left Benny and Franzi with the weather forecast that it should only rain (100), we started motivated. When we were already 100 km away from Alice Springs, there was only bright sunshine and hardly any clouds. We wanted to drive through the MacDonnell Ranges (no idea if I spelled that right) a route through the Outback towards Kings Canyon and thought it would be paved. Somehow, however, we drove almost 200 km on an off-road road.

Unbelievable how red the sand was. On the way, we saw wild horses, cows, and a bull. At first, we thought about turning around again, but then we were pretty glad we took this route.

We arrived in the dark at a free campsite near Kings Canyon shortly after sunset. We made a fire and even cooked over the fire, and enjoyed the evening.

The next morning we had an incredible view. 20 km away, we finally reached the highly praised Kings Canyon and we were so excited!! It was so beautiful, and every time we climbed to a viewpoint we could only think "WOW" when we arrived there.

In Kings Canyon, we did the "Rim Walk" (I can't use quotation marks with an English keyboard), which is 6 km long and leads to Kings Canyon and through the canyon directly to the "Garden of Eden". And the best part? We finally saw some budgies! Maybe not so spectacular for some, but we have one of these little ones at home ourselves and that's why we really wanted to see them. After the hike, we drove another 250 km to stay overnight at a free campsite before Uluru. Here we got to know two nice French people at the campfire who were traveling to help out in an Aboriginal village.
