Day 8 * into Rioja

Morning: Vitoria-Gasteiz (Basque Country) * Evening: Arnedillo (Rioja)

Vitoria-Gasteiz in the rain: We abandon our city visit and museum plans. The sun entices us into Rioja. The gentle hills are home to one winery after another. A huge estate with panoramic views: Here we take a look at the stainless steel barrels and the vineyards.

In the idyllic town of Laguardia, we take a break and stroll through the well-preserved old town from the 14th century. Beautiful despite the drizzle.

Our next destination is Logroño, the capital of Rioja. Stroll through the city and visit the Museo de la Rioja, the historical museum. We encounter some pilgrims of the 'Camino de Santiago' - Logroño is an important city on the route.

We leave the city via one of the Ebro bridges and drive another 60 kilometers. The small country road passes by impressive red cliffs and caves and finally we end up in Arnedillo. Here we find exactly what we longed for in the morning at 11 degrees and rain: hot springs! We warm up in the very warm water. To top it all off, the evening sun shines in our faces.

At the top of the mountain above the village is the pitch with a magnificent view and picnic area. Here we find our ideal accommodation for the night.
