I wake up in the middle of the night. Shivering. After a short war over the last corner of the blanket, my bladder makes itself noticeable. I'm sure everyone knows that feeling! After some back and forth, the bladder wins. I get out of the car, blink once, blink twice, Woow. Above me, a starry sky that I can hardly describe. I can see the Milky Way! I stand there in awe.
In the morning, we want to get up early, but because of the blanket war, we are still too tired and have breakfast a little later, at our newly purchased folding table.
Unfortunately, we have to drive the whole way back to Richmond and then onto the highway going west. Along the way, we stop again at Abel Tasman National Park, this time by the sea. In short, we booked a kayak for 5 hours.
Ten layers of sunscreen applied and off we go on a wild ride.
At first, it's extremely exhausting. Strong winds blow against us and small waves splash over us. But even here, the effort is worth it. We stop at almost empty beaches and can actually spot some seals at Seals Bay.
Still full of sea salt and a slight sunburn, we continue to Richmond. We have to do some shopping once again for our dinner. Steak and salad are on the menu after the hard work. A quick phone call to make sure we don't find ourselves at closed doors at our desired campsite.
Our camping site, Riverside Holidaypark Murchison Ltd, is located right by the river. It's a shame that it's already so late, otherwise I would have jumped into the water for a quick swim. Still, it's a beautiful sight to see the sun reflecting on the river.
