Today we were at Lake Skadar, or rather at its inflow. We are on a very sparsely equipped campsite with an additional function of cow pastures - cold water showers and a curtain as a toilet door. Dishes are washed with the garden hose.
The advantages of the campsite--> Cowbell ringing, access to the lake via the river, peace and a fish restaurant opposite that deserves a place in the Michelin guide.. Absolutely fantastic. Last night I had fish soup and today I had it twice, and I even got to taste Michelle's trout. Incredibly delicious.
We went canoeing on the river, which is perfect for it. Except for a tourist boat every 20 minutes or so and another canoe, we were the only ones on the broad, slow-flowing river. You really feel like you're in the middle of the Amazon when you paddle along, no sign of civilization far and wide, just forest, mountains, water lilies, and us.
We also experienced a lot. Suddenly, there was a snake lying next to us on the beach, we didn't take a photo of it, but I was quite startled.
Then we saw a turtle crossing the road in the town center, but all the inhabitants except us found it completely normal.
And the town.. It's hard to describe, the area is nice, the famous lake is very close by, there is a promenade along the riverbank, but well-kept small guesthouses and restaurants are lined up next to ruins and half-decaying buildings. There is already some tourism here, but very little. The supermarket is about the same size as Johann, and with a backpack, I could barely turn around between the shelves when buying bread.
We plan to leave early tomorrow, but we will skip Sveti Stefan, we have already seen enough islands, peninsulas, city walls, red tiled roofs, etc. We will drive along the lake a little more and then chase the sun, and see if we can jump into the sea again in Montenegro or Albania - at least that's the plan.
