I left the house at noon. It was quite chilly and the gray sky dressed in a thick layer of clouds matching the gray city. Instead of my usual route, I chose a different way towards Downtown and went to St. Lawrence Market, a mix of food court and market hall. There, I treated myself to lovingly reheated ravioli in the microwave for 12 dollars, while a woman next to me spent minutes taking pictures of metal bowls with her annoying beeping DSLR camera.
Fortunately, there was a pastry stand in the market hall where I stocked up on plenty of dopamine-producing treats.
In a good mood and warmed up, I spontaneously decided to take the ferry to Toronto Island Park. Upon arriving at Wards Island, I found myself alone in a huge park after a few steps.
There was nothing.
No noise, no stench, no people. And suddenly, I was very happy. Happy about a huge lake that seemed endless. Happy about the peace and rustling of leaves. Happy about the water lapping against the shore, while enjoying the skyline of Toronto in all its beauty. After a week, this is my absolute favorite spot in Toronto.
I am reconciled and settled.
