Today we wake up early as we cross the Arctic Circle. We want to watch it from the deck. On the small island of Vikingen, in the municipality of Rødøy between Nesna and Ørnes, stands the globe. The exact position of the Arctic Circle is always different when we cross it. Over the course of a year, the imaginary line shifts by almost 15 meters, while Vikingen and the Arctic Circle monument stay in place. The exact position of the line always depends on the angle of the Earth's axis relative to the plane of its orbit. We will spend the afternoon in Bodø before crossing the Vestfjord to Stamsund, Svolvær in the Lofoten Islands in the early afternoon.
