After yesterday everything went pretty freestyle, today was more planned. I walked to the port early, where our guide Brandon took us to the Statue of Liberty at 8:30 am. It's really spectacular, even the boat ride alone is great.
The lady herself is really huge, impressive. After a little tour through the museum located below the statue, we went up. However, only to the pedestal. You can go up to the crown, but the waiting time for tickets is about 3 months. In my opinion, it's not necessary. The important thing is the view of and not from her. By the way, you don't need a ticket to enter the torch, the permission of the president is enough...
Afterwards, we went to Ellis Island. This is where the immigrants arrived back then and were examined, renamed, and distributed throughout America. A nice American history lesson. After that, I still had the Empire State Building on my agenda. I thought there would be crowds of people here, but it was manageable. The view is magnificent, a lasting memory.
Afterwards, I made a short visit to Central Park.
So much green (if it's not December) in the middle of this skyscraper flood is something special. On my way back, I walked down 5th Avenue towards downtown. I can only say CROWDS of people around the Christmas tree. Totally crazy, like at a rock concert.
Unfortunately, my stay in New York is already over, but that's part of my journey.
In any case, I am absolutely thrilled with New York.
The New Yorkers talk fast and walk fast. Both are true.
Tomorrow morning I'm heading to Washington D.C. The train leaves at 8:10 am.
Barack, clean your house.
stay tuned
Jeff
