Home on trial – our return to Laos

We are back in Laos, we have been looking forward to this for a long time because:

• we fell in love with this country in 2023,
• will have a permanent home here again and
• Exciting new tasks await us.

For the first three days we spend in the capital Vientiane, meeting people, e.g. from Plan International, and going on an exploration tour.

We immediately feel at home in Laos again and feel that it is good to have a (temporary) home again after 9 months and 12 countries on two continents. Our memory of pictures is full, our experience box is full, our ability to adapt has become a little worn out and our view of world religions, ethnic peculiarities and the challenges of the regions has been sharpened. But we have also collected a long list of ideas that caught our attention on the trip and that could also provide more satisfaction and confidence in Saxony.

The last few months cannot be summed up in a few characters, so here is a brief summary:

• We have had so many loving encounters.
• We are very grateful that someone protected us well and we never had any real worries or were seriously ill!
• Occasional unpleasantness such as moldy rooms was just as much a part of our trip as sunsets that were simply dreamy.

We wouldn’t want to miss this time and we were able to learn a lot!

PPS: Even though we are now back in hospital, we will continue to share our thoughts on a new phase of life away from home.
