Coughing Troll

Let's continue: on one of the most beautiful scenic routes so far, we think. The #Trollstigen.

* A few words about Norway's scenic routes: many viewpoints have been developed along the routes, with some impressive landscape/architecture and artworks. It's always worth stopping.

We're driving higher into the Norwegian mountains, it's a cold and cloudy day. We'll notice that at our overnight spot at the Trollstigen viewpoint. The route leads to #Geiranger, one of the most famous fjords in Norway.

But first, we get an idea of what it would be like if we were here in winter: the mountain pass before the viewpoint passes by a frozen lake, we can see blue glacier ice and feel the polar cold. One can easily imagine how the little trolls live up here. When we reach our destination, the clouds are so dense it's as if a whole army of trolls has a coughing fit. Luckily, we're staying here overnight, so it doesn't bother us that we can hardly see further than two Frederic lengths. Looking back, the atmosphere in that coughing troll mist was more pleasant because the next day (August 4th) we could see the valley and other tourists again, but the mysterious dull silence was somehow more enchanting.

PS: For heaven's sake, never, never drive a truck through this valley. And to all wannabe racers: cars are coming towards you even at night! (Screeching tires and loud engines are not exempt from accidents, surprisingly.)
