Day 36 and 37 Wednesday, February 3, 2016, Halong Bay

Hello friends,

Unfortunately, the weather is still not better, but we don't let it get us down. We are sitting in a bus that is way too cramped, and we will reach Halong City at 7 a.m. Since we still have time, we stroll through the city to pass the time.

Punctually at 12:45 p.m., we are picked up by Ethnic Travel at a 4-star hotel. We, that is me and 2 other companions for the next few weeks, which doesn't matter, but I mention it here because we will be the only 3 people on this tour for the next 2 days.

A large boat with space for 9 guests, but only the 3 of us accompanied by a crew of 5 people plus 1 captain and a guide from the travel agency. Now, that's what I call luxury.

So we set off and at the same time, we get our first lunch, which is already so good and so much that the table threatens to burst ;-) and it tastes great. Consisting of fish, seafood, meat, and vegetables.

Afterwards, we enjoy the journey through the beautiful landscape of Halong Bay, still without sunshine, but nevertheless enchanting. After 2 hours, it's time to get into the kayak and paddle for an hour along the impressive rock formations and through small cave passages. On the way back, we discovered a herd of monkeys, very cool to see them jumping through the forest on the island. Back on board, we defy the weather of about 16 degrees Celsius and jump into the sea first, then take a hot shower and have some tea. Then it's time to relax, but not for long, and there is already another dinner, which is of course not inferior to lunch. What abundance.

The next morning, we started with a light but sufficient breakfast, followed by another kayak ride to a cave. It wasn't very big, but nice to look at. Then we headed back towards the port, which we reached after about 2 hours.

But we didn't just leave the boat, of course, we got another lunch, again oversized.

Now it's time to say goodbye, we drove back to Hanoi, from where our bus to Hue started in the evening.
