I'm starting again tomorrow! I've rested enough now. Tomorrow I'll start again. The whole thing was quite expensive with three days of hotel and a few new shoes. Hmmmm....
Today I moved from the hotel to the pilgrim shelter. Thankfully, I met some familiar faces there. What a joy! You really end up in a great young community and quickly engage in conversations with many people. Everyone hobbles and limps with pain in all their limbs. But everyone is cheerful and open.
Today I visited the grand cathedral of Burgos. A Gothic church that is a UNESCO World Heritage site. I'm attaching a few pictures. Very impressive.
In the shelter, there are dormitories on several floors. There are 150 sleeping spaces. Quite large but clean. The government-run shelters are always the cheapest, around 5 euros. They are often simpler but clean. The private ones are more expensive, around 10-15 euros, but often include or have an extra charge for breakfast. Usually, in Spain, it is coffee, orange juice, white bread with apricot or strawberry jam, and packaged cake. 😩 Well, sometimes it's okay if there's also fruit. Often very high in sugar.
Sometimes I buy my own breakfast.
